Intro

The hiking holiday in Turkey starts in the coastal village of Fethiye. You stay in a cosy family hotel, run by a Turkish/Belgian family. In contrast to many other coastal towns, Fethiye has not yet been overflowed by tourists.

During the hiking trails in the area you will discover a mix of culture and nature. Of course, the archaeological sites in the area are not missing.

On the first day of your holiday you will receive the necessary information regarding the hiking routes. The routes are loaded on your GPS navigation (of course you can also rent GPS navigation with us). Some hiking trails do not start or end at the hotel but we will provide the necessary transport.

The hikes are suitable for the recreational hiker and go over unpaved, well passable paths.

Hiking in Fethiye

Fethiye is surrounded by large mountains. It is a traditional working city full of activity, a port with fishing boats and a luxury marina. The heart of Fethiye is formed by Paspartur; narrow streets with shops and restaurants.

The archaeological sites are just a few steps away. The rich historical past of this area can be found everywhere in the street image. During this hiking holiday you will discover the most beautiful places of Turkey, near Fethiye!

Hiking routes

Hiking routes briefly highlighted

From Ovacik to Faralya (Butterfly Valley)

The starting point of this beautiful hike is just outside Hisaronu, at the beginning of the old Lycian Road. This path lies on the south flank of Mount Babadag with its 1,975 metre high peak. After a few kilometers through the old woods, a beautiful view of the deep blue bay of Oludeniz unfolds. At approximately 800 meters there is a plateau, an excellent place for a picnic. From this plateau you have an excellent view of the valley with many rare bird species. On the way you pass the village of Kozagac and between the limestone walls it continues along small fields to Kirme. A descent to an old watermill will get you to the Butterfly Valley. A very beautiful valley with beautiful views and natural beauty. Here we will collect you for the drive back to the hotel.
Length of the walk: 14.5 km
Duration of the walk:5 to 6 hours

Afkule-Fethiye

This is one of the most challenging and interesting walks on this peninsula. This hike initially takes you to Afkule, where a monastery has been carved high from the rocks. Then head north towards Hacbeli. The walk to the North gives you the best views of the Fethiye Bay. Along the way you will walk past archaeological sites from various periods of history, such as children's tombs from the Lycian period and Byzantine period churches.
Length of walk: 19 km
Duration of the walk: approx. 7 hours

Dikencik-Yaniklar

You will be taken to the starting point of this walk: an old Mine road, used by the French, until the 60's of the previous century for the extraction of chromium. This hike takes you deeper into nature, along fast flowing mountain streams. At the end of the route you can enjoy a delicious, authentic lunch with all kinds of products from our own garden.
Length of the walk: about 12 km
Duration of the walk: about 4 hours

Uzumlu-Kadyanda

From the mountain village of Uzumlu you walk through the beautiful nature to the archaeological remains of the Lycian city of Kadyanda, located at an altitude of almost 1,000 meters. A lovely place to enjoy the lunch you brought.
Duration of the walk: about 4 hours

Fethiye-Kayakoy-Oludeniz

Via Fethiye's seafront promenade and over an ancient Greek path, you can walk to the Greek ghost town of Kayakoy. After the power takeover of Ataturk, in the mid-1920s, this city was almost completely abandoned. After lunch there is a walk through the old town and a narrow path brings you to the lagoon of Oludeniz.
Duration of the walk: Kayakoy 4 hours, Oludeniz 6 hours.
